Finless porpoises (1st and 2nd floors)

They are also called the whales of the Seto Inland Sea, and two generations of parents and children live here. They welcome visitors with a smiley face. The most popular animal in the aquarium.
Finless porpoises are very curious. They will come close if you wave to them!

Humboldt penguins (1st and 2nd floors)

The penguins, the most relaxing creatures in the aquarium, live here. The pool on the 2nd floor has a transparent bottom. Looking up from the 1st floor, you can see them swimming freely.

Asian small-clawed otters (1st floor)

They run around energetically in the aquarium. You can see parents and children playing, and at the 4pm event on weekdays, they eat fish wildly.

Must-see 2: A variety of events and ”Hatsukoi-an(はつこい庵)”

About 10 events are held per day. It’s also great that you can participate for free.

Sea Lion Live

A 15-minute live performance in which sea lions demonstrate various techniques. There are also programs in which the audience can participate.
On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at 1pm, there is also a time to take commemorative photos with the sea lions.

Hatsukoi-an, a relaxing Japanese space

Hatsukoi-an (Hatsukoi = first love, an = hermitage) is a space where you can feel the relaxation of Japanese culture, and exhibits creatures that are associated with Hiroshima.

Must-see 3: You’ll be amazed! An aquarium unique to Miyajima

Check out the aquariums for hairtail fish and oysters, which are rare nationwide.
Local exhibits make the Seto Inland Sea feel even more familiar to you.

Oyster raft (1st and 2nd floors)

A reproduction of an oyster farming raft. Although it doesn’t seem to be moving, it is absorbing 10 liters of seawater per hour and eating plankton.

Hairtail fish (1st floor)

You can observe hairtail fish drifting upright in the dark ocean. Nocturnal and bioluminescent creatures are also on display.
